Local, Small Businesses make our Communities Livable!

Upcoming Live Stream on May 6th at noon

Local, small businesses are the essence of livable communities across this country. Whether retail, service or manufacturing, small businesses in close proximity can encourage reduced dependency on automobiles and promote bike and walkability. They also provide an opportunity for those 50+ to own their own business and contribute to the civic economy in addition to providing employment opportunities to those 50+. And our community’s local businesses provide a space to connect with friends and neighbors, reducing social isolation.

It’s Small business week and guests Jay Schlinsog of the Reopen Main Street project and Kate Westaby and Jennifer Stephany with Wisconsin Downtown Action Council join host Amber Miller to share their observations of small businesses during this past year across the United States and right here in Wisconsin.
