Supporting vibrant downtown districts through the Connect Communities and Wisconsin Main Street Programs, dozens of Wisconsin communities are revitalizing their downtown and historic commercial districts. With initiatives such as creative reuse of buildings, streetscape improvements, new tenant recruitment and proactive marketing and promotions, communities are bringing back foot traffic and breathing new life into these districts with historic appeal.

Wisconsin’s downtowns and historic commercial districts are the centers of commerce, government, banking and social life in our communities. By preserving and revitalizing these traditional cores, communities can distinguish themselves from the competition and set the table for economic development.

Originally from New Jersey, Darrin lived in Ohio from 1996 until the spring of 2014 when he and his family moved to Madison. Darrin now serves as the Downtown Development Manager for the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.

Darrin started a historic preservation with the German Village Society in Columbus, Ohio. Through his experience he learned that historic preservation is community development and when looking for the next opportunity, Main Street was a natural extension. He served as a Main Street director in Orrville, Ohio for 8 years and also owned and operated a downtown retail business in Ohio.
